Matthew, Marine Corps Staff Sergeant
Last month, the NC Heroes Fund provided assistance to Matthew, a Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, and his family while he waits for VA benefits to be awarded.
Matthew served in the Marine Corps as an intel specialist, deploying 6 times over the last 14 years, including 2 deployments to Iraq and 2 to Afghanistan. He suffered injuries during the push to Baghdad in 2003, and during the Battle of Fallujah in 2004. Matthew was medically retired earlier this year. Due to his injuries, his wife is acting as his full time caregiver.
Matthew will be receiving VA benefits, as well as Combat Special Compensation in the upcoming months. The NC Heroes Fund thanks Matthew for his service and is honored to be able to help him and his family.
